    Venue Set!

Alright, i have talked with the owner and our venue is now set. Noble Tree, check below for details

This saturday, august 8th. The time is still being worked on. check back here for more details….

    Noble Tree – 2444 N Clark St , Lincoln Park – nobletreecoffee.com

    Next Order of Business: Planning

Now that we not only have one, but two possible venues,  let’s talk what we want to do there. I have no idea what the skill level of the people attending is. For me, when I regiestered a month ago I had never even made a program, and I had no idea how to program. Luckily, programming for the Pre is quite easy and with determination I was able to quickly go from 0 to 60.  That being said I expect to see a variety of skill level AND skills.

    Some possible activites :

    • Getting the SDK set up – emulator, eclipse, komodo w/ webos toolbox
    • Hello World App – just the basics
    • Make an App using a Mojo Service – I have already made test apps using gps and accelometer
    • Make a game – I am currently developing a BreakOut clone and I plan to submit it to pDC app contest
    • Comment below/Email me with Ideas!

So, I want EVERYONE who is planning to come to report back (either via email or comment) with what you what to see happen. Even if you don’t care what goes down and just are along for the ride, tell us that.

    -Max

    Location, Location, Location….

So many of you have email me with venue possibilites I have basically narrowed to do to TWO options.

    1. Noble Tree – 2444 N Clark St , Lincoln Park – nobletreecoffee.com

“Super, Noble Tree is all yours nobletreecoffee.com just let me know what i can do to make it smooth”

    and

“i have a 3 floor house from 1890 or so with a big private patio, you can have it. cool, just let me know.”

    2. Mercury Cafe – 1505 W Chicago Ave – www.chimercurycafe.com

“We have about 4000 sq ft and tons of seating.”

    and

“well our weekends are pretty busy. so i can say that we don’t have 15-30 outlets avaialable in one spot. you would probably take up a spot toward the back of the cafe.”

Right now I am leaning towards noble tree, if you have any thing to say for/against either location email me (kmax12 at gmail.com) or leave a comment below

Let’s Not Give Up on pDC Chicago

    Hello Everybody,

This is Max. I have taken over for Dan. I really wanna see a preDevCamp happen in Chicago. Right now the biggest limitiation is finding a Venue. I am only 16 and getting people to commit a venue to me isnt easy… So, therefore, it is up to the people of chicago, who want to make this happen, to make it happen. With that being said, I can handle presentations on using mojo and webos and th sdk. I have developed many application already for webos (many of which or on precentral’s hombrew section) I can bring my mojo knowledge to the event, but no experience in other forms of web development. If you have input, comment below. And PLEASE LET’S NOT GIVE UP.

As of now, If we don’t find a venue we might be stuck at  Mcdonalds. We need a better idea than this, but this is what I got. One idea might be to contact your church or synoguge, that means Call your pastor / rabbi and see if there’s a function room available  ASAP

    **edit **

I  want to remind you that pDC is THIS Saturday, the 8th. Additionally, since many of you probably signed up months ago email me to confirm you still have interest. I plan for it to be an all day event 10-5 or so, but walking in and out should be fine…

    Pre Devcamp chicago

All, unfortunately I no longer have the time or venue to hold predevcamp in chicago next week.

Situations have left me unavailable, but I’m happy and willing to turn this blog etc over to another capable event organizer.

Send me an email and I can get you the login info.

I apologize for the inconvenience this has caused.

    /Dan
